Lilaas AS has more than 50 years of experience in producing precision mechanics for the most demanding industries.

FULLY IN FRONT

– What we are most proud of is being able to deliver quality products to internationally demanding customers where we are at the forefront of our niches, says Espen Hoff, general manager of Lilaas.

The company produces small mechanical precision components, which are inserted into a customer product or into Lilaas' own product. Lilaas' own control levers also integrate electronics and software.

– Ever since our inception, we have been at the forefront when it comes to production technology, especially within mechanical production, says Hoff.
– As the years have passed, we have chosen to add both electronics and software to be able to offer a more complete system to our customers, in other words, we are a very forward-looking technology company.

Lilaas' products are used in the defense, medical and space-related industries. However, it is the maritime industry that accounts for the largest share of sales.

“In the maritime segment, you will find our products on the bridge for navigation,” explains Hoff.
– But we also deliver control systems that remain in the engine room.

The Norwegian-developed systems are often installed on larger ships, such as supply boats, ferries, tankers and cruise ships. The company is now also focusing on establishing itself more clearly with systems designed for the yacht industry.

DEPENDING ON RIGHT COMPETENCE

The international technology market is tough to compete in, but Lilaas delivers strong results year after year. Hoff believes that employees with the right skills are one of the reasons for the company's success.

– Here at our company, we have production expertise in machining and assembly, as well as engineering disciplines such as electronics design, machine design and software development, well represented, says Hoff.
– There is a good spread in the areas of expertise of those who work here, and we are also completely dependent on that to continue to deliver quality products. That is precisely why Horten is a great place for us to be, there are many people here with exactly the expertise that Lilaas needs. In addition, many important technology companies are also gathered in Horten, both on our customer and supplier side.

Today, Lilaas exports around 50% of its products directly. The largest market shares are in Europe, China and the USA, and in the future the company wants to invest even more:

– We have always been at the forefront of technology. It started with mechanics, but over the years we have added both electronics and software to be able to offer more complete solutions. This has yielded good results, and in the future we aim to become an even stronger player in production technology and control systems.
