Ferno Mobility is one of Norway's leading companies in car customization, and they supply a large number of commercial vehicles equipped with warning lights, van interiors and radio communication to the police, health services and security companies. Since 2006, the company has been responsible for delivering most of the police cars in Norway in collaboration with Volkswagen and BMW.

Today, the Hortens company has a very broad reach. This is because they have acquired many subcontractors over the years to gain direct access to more expertise.

– Ferno has been around for 40 years. That means we have experienced many ups and downs, says Willy Eilertsen, who is Sales and Marketing Manager at Ferno Mobility.

– These experiences have made us open to thinking differently. For example, we have been heavily involved in emergency vehicles for many years, but we find that this can be a somewhat unstable industry. Therefore, over the years we have looked in other directions and built expertise in other, relevant areas as well.

SOLVING EVERYDAY CHALLENGES

The company's production operations are now experiencing rapid growth, while they are now expanding their scope to include all types of vehicles.

– We now also build special vehicles for other services, such as the security companies NOKAS and Securitas. We also make smoke diving vehicles and vans, says Eilertsen.

In short, Ferno offers tailor-made solutions that customers want.

– We want to be a supplier that is not dependent on one specific customer group, but can instead find solutions and opportunities where there is a need, says Eilertsen.

– We simply want to solve the challenges that customers face in their everyday lives.

OFFERING FUTURE-ORIENTED PRODUCTS

Regardless of whether it concerns specially adapted vehicles for the healthcare service, police or cash transport, Ferno Mobility wants to be the total supplier that always delivers what the customer wants at any time.

– We are primarily engaged in development, explains Eilertsen. – We are in daily dialogue with customers who have needs they are almost unaware of. We then review the expertise we have internally and find good alternatives for the customers. This is what keeps us one step ahead of our suppliers.

The biggest challenge for modern businesses is to stay ahead of customer inquiries. Eilertsen has no doubt about what Ferno will focus on going forward: electric vehicles.

– We want to always be at the forefront of offering future-oriented products, says Eilertsen.

– That's why we have now entered into a partnership with one of the largest suppliers in Norway on the electric car front. This is very positive for the environment, and we are very keen to invest in it.
